Now on Steam
v1.3.12
February 21st, 2026
v1.3.12 is the version that brought SCP – Containment Breach to Steam. It followed an open beta that started in January 2026, after a little over two months of development.
Mods & Steam Workshop
The biggest addition in v1.3.12 is a modding system with Steam Workshop integration. Mods can replace resources like models, textures and sounds, and change data such as rooms (existing and new ones), items and SCP-294 drinks.
Mods are managed from a new Mods menu, and an example mod comes with the game in its Mods folder.

CBRE-EX
To go with the modding system, the open source CBRE-EX room editor was updated so items and doors can be placed directly in rooms.

DirectX 9
The engine was moved from DirectX 7 to DirectX 9. On its own this lets the game run almost flawlessly on Linux through Proton, and with a few extra changes, like a platform-independent library for the startup movies and adjusted UI scaling on low resolution screens, it plays well on Linux and the Steam Deck too.
4K & HUD Scaling
Playing above 1080p no longer crashes the game, and the HUD can be scaled up to stay legible on large screens. Its elements can also be moved toward the center of the screen for ultrawide monitors.
Scaling the HUD up showed how low resolution some of its textures were, which led to the texture upgrades in v1.3.12.1.

Localization
The game can now be played in other languages, starting with Russian, Simplified Chinese, Portuguese (Portugal and Brazil), German and Polish. The language is chosen from the game's Properties in the Steam library.

Speedrunning
Made together with the speedrunning community: an integrated timer, numeric seeds that can be typed in directly, much faster loading and fixes for a number of issues that affected runs.

Steam Achievements
The game's achievements are now on Steam, along with a previously missing achievement for SCP-066.

Quality of Life
A field of view slider, Discord rich presence, and a revamped launcher that sorts resolutions by aspect ratio, marks the monitor's default and drops the graphics driver selection modern systems don't need.

Store Artwork
All of the artwork and screenshots for the Steam release were made by Inward, built from in-game recordings and screenshots layered together with a grunge pass, in the same style as this page.
The PSDs for every capsule and banner are in the SCP-CB Archive.
Bug Fixes
v1.3.12 is full of bug fixes. A few of the more important ones:
- Fixed certain seeds not generating required rooms, which made the game impossible to beat.
- Fixed certain seeds having rooms overlap and become untraversable.
- Fixed SCP-966's achievement triggering very inconsistently.
- Fixed the clerk NPC potentially not dying to the Tesla Gate.
- Fixed a lot of floating buttons and security cameras in various rooms.
The full list is in the commit history on GitHub.
Based on the official v1.3.12 release post on Steam.
SCP – Containment Breach is based on the works of the SCP Foundation and is released under CC BY-SA 3.0. Original game by Undertow Games.
